The reliance on Out-of-field teaching is being noticed across more and more countries and in more and more subjects. Research plays an important role in highlighting this practice in different contexts and keeping systems accountable. We achieve this by gathering evidence to comprehend the variations in experiences, outcomes, policy influences, and potential solutions, while also offering insights and commentary to both the education system and the general public. This theme underscores the importance of exchanging research and solutions across different contexts, while emphasising the actual and relative effects that these research endeavours and solutions are producing.

We welcome national and cross-national research and commentary on the policies, the people, and the effects associated with this phenomenon. Post-graduate students and early career researchers are welcome.

  • Abstracts for the symposium are welcome (see below).
